    Sophia Airhart, MD is an advanced heart failure cardiologist with expertise in pulmonary hypertension and mechanical circulatory support. She serves as Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Regional Medical Director of Heart Failure at Baystate Health.

    Dr. Airhart is an Associate Editor for Circulation: Heart Failure and the inaugural section editor for Under Pressure. She also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Shock and Hemodynamics and is the section editor for Right Heart Catheterization for Shockwaves.ICU. She currently serves as Education Co-Chair for the Women in Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support (WiTMCS) Working Group.

    Nationally, Dr. Airhart contributes to the Heart Failure Society of America Scientific Statement Writing Committee on Right Ventricular Failure and was selected to the Scientific Review Committee for the 2026 Jenesis Awards Program. Her research and clinical trial work focuses on advancing therapies for systolic and diastolic heart failure, as well as pulmonary vascular disease.
